Review of Earth's Own "OatNog" (Vegan Eggnog) - Is vegan oat milk eggnog any good?
Do you remember when we’d all stop ordering regular americano-mistos and get them with eggnog instead at Starbucks?! It’s almost that time of year, eggnog time! Back in the day, eggnog was only to be enjoyed by the non-vegans, I mean, it’s in the name!
However, we have come a long way and are now able to enjoy insanely delicious, completely vegan, rich, creamy, delicious eggnog that is totally plant-based.
Fairly new, at least to BC Canada, is the oat milk craze. And following the oat milk craze, comes oatnog, thank goodness. I did not let myself dream of such a world where oat milk would be used to create incredible plantbased eggnog, but here we are. Living the dream.
My thoughts on Earth’s Own OatNog (Review)
I’ll come right out and say it, personally, I think this is the best vegan eggnog I’ve had thus far. My previous favorite was So Delicious Coconut Milk Nog, but I think this one just beats it!
Why is oatnog the best vegan eggnog?
1 - Texture
This creamy texture and consistency can’t be beaten! It’s creamy and delicious all the way through. It truly reminds me of that nostalgic thick and creamy eggnog vibe. It never feels like it’s starting to separate or anything like that like some other vegan milks tend to do.
2 - No weird after taste or after smell.
I have tried some FUNKY vegan eggnogs. I remember one left the taste of bubblegum in my mouth after drinking it. Sorry, I can’t think of the brand name for that one! Anyways, this has no strange aftertaste or smell related to it. It goes down smooth with no lingering undesired tastes or smells.
3 - Sweetness Level
Finally, vegan eggnog that doesn’t feel insanely sweet!! It has a great level of sweetness even compared to my previous favorite by So Delicious. So Delicious was still a tad bit too sweet for me so the fact that this vegan eggnog is so drinkable is very exciting. I’d really have to limit myself with the others in the past, this one I don’t feel gross after drinking a glass, or like I’m on an insane sugar high.
4 - It steams really nicely!
As we all know, steaming certain plant-based milk can be a pain, and some of them just don’t seem to steam as nicely others. Hence why I think oat milk lattes really took off, they steam so well! So I’d like to say that yes, even the oat nog version steams well!
5 - Mixes perfectly with coffee and spiced rum.
I’m drinking decaf coffee with oat nog as I type this out. It is perfect! The coffee feels creamy, there are notes of spices that don’t overpower the coffee, and it adds a nice level of sweetness to the coffee without being too intense.
As I’m pregnant and I couldn’t taste the spiced-rum version, my husband happily volunteered to test it out for me. He reported back loving it and going back for more. So there you have it.

Is vegan oatnog (eggnog) good?
I’m happy to say, that yes vegan oatnog tastes delicious! At least thanks to the brand “Earth’s Own”. Truly my favorite version of vegan eggnog out there.
You do have to be careful with vegan eggnogs in my opinion. There are some pretty bad ones out there, unfortunately.
Where to buy vegan oatnog (eggnog)?
Most grocery stores should have vegan oatnog however I am unsure if all will carry Earth’s Own Oat Nog.
I found it at my local Safeway. It was not in the refrigerated section. It was near the other boxed alternative plantbased milk.
However, some grocery stores may display this seasonal drink somewhere else as part of their Christmas promotions.
Does vegan eggnog mix well with alcohol?
You can mix all kinds of vegan eggnog with alcohol. However, I would highly recommend trying it with oat nog vs the rest as there really is no weird aftertaste with this version, it’s not too sweet, and it keeps its texture really well compared to other plantbased eggnogs.
CHEERS! Enjoy responsibly ;)
